On 20 November 2013, local distributors Audiosure along with representatives from Martin Audio UK unveiled the newest addition to the Martin Audio line – the MLA Mini – at the Zinto Marketing offices in Linbro Park in a multi-part demonstration. The demonstration also included a large range of other professional audio systems including the Martin Audio W8LM line array, XTA system processors and MC2 amplifiers. Presented by Martin Audio technical support specialist Andy Davies, each session consisted of a brief history of Martin Audio, the theory behind their award winning Multi-cellular Loudspeaker Array (MLA) technology and a listening session of all of the loudspeaker systems presented.
Of particular interest was the MLA Mini which takes the idea of the line source array and improves upon its shortcomings through their multi-cellular technology and advanced enclosure design. Using highly advanced DSP algorithms controlling discrete amplification channels for each driver among other patented technologies, the MLA system includes such features as the ability to assign “Hard-avoid’ areas, reduced sound spill and fine-tuned vertical coverage without the need to re-rig the array. Multiple presets can also be recalled in real time in-show to adapt to various changes within the programme.
