Developers at Holy Rosary School in Johannesburg appointed Prosound to ensure that they have the best infrastructure available for their new multipurpose school hall.
Prosound worked alongside architects, engineers and acousticians to supply and install a complete audio, AV and lighting solution for the massive hall including run of show paging systems and microphones.
The core audio system installed centres around a full Electro-Voice rig comprising EV ZX5 centre, left and right clusters supported by 2 x Electro-Voice dual 18′ Tour-X subs. Electro-Voice SX300s act as distributed balcony delays while 8 x EV S40s stand as under-balcony fills. EV EVIDS cater for foyer overfill.
Holy Rosary is the first school in JHB to use a MIDAS Pro1 which offers the flexibility of digital with an analogue feel. A Rane unit is used for basic events so that teachers who have not received training on the Pro1 may also use the system, without the desk.
An impressive 48 lighting fixtures were used to light the auditorium and stage area. 18 ZPL LED Parcan fixtures controlled by an ETC Congo Kid Console light the stage area with additional ETC Source 4 Parnel “stage trees’ both left and right of the stage. 12 ETC Source4 fixed focus profiles fill the auditorium. Dimming is provided by a Zero88 Chilli dimmer.
All AV was overseen by Prosound partners, Proxio Audio-Visual, who provided a complete TVone video switcher/scaler solution to go with the two huge 4mx2m projector screens. Two delay LED screens were installed on the balcony area. Thinking again of efficiency and accessibility, Prosound included three on-stage facility boxes which allow teachers and students to plug in laptops, cameras etc for presentations and performances.
Microphones supplied include DPA d:fine headsets and Electro-Voice instrument and vocal mics. A portable MyMix personal monitoring system was also supplied which can be moved between the Music Centre on the main school campus and the new school hall at Shanahan Park with ease.
Students and teachers received audio and lighting training from Prosound’s Mark Malherbe and Chenn de Wet.
“This was any project manager’s dream,’ says Lindsay. “Working with the contractors and client was great, everything was well organised and well planned. And it shows in the final result.’
