X2O Media, which is a Barco company, highlighted innovative applications that demonstrated the capabilities and versatility of the company’s award-winning HTML5-based X2O platform, at DSE 2015.

The platform was designed to streamline content management workflows, delivering real-time visual communications to the right audience, at the right time, on the right device, which greatly simplified the creation and management of media-rich channels for developing new forms of engagement and delivering enhanced experiences for both customers and employees. With its modern look and highly intuitive graphical user interface, the X2O platform makes it easier than ever to create, schedule, and play out dynamic content on visual communication networks. In addition, X2O was joined by Barco’s retail and advertising division, displaying dynamic retail solutions via Barco’s X2 and C5 LED video walls and interactive LCD displays. All channels on display were controlled by a tablet, demonstrating the easy integration of handheld devices.

This was definitely an interactive retail experience, where touchscreens were placed in strategic locations to simulate a retail environment in which customers interacted with screens in order to browse through a catalogue and obtain detailed product information, which adapts dynamically to its audience based on gender recognition, mood, and interest. For instant customer support, Barco’s X2O platform allowed shoppers to communicate with store personnel via video chat capabilities.

Retailers gained valuable insights on how long customers focus on specific messages, or gauge their reaction by analysing their facial expressions. Customers can also be categorized based on gender and age group.

iBeacons with connected workspace and workplace, using iBeacons placed throughout the booth, passers were able to detected within a defined zone, powered by the X2O platform, the closest display screen which reacted to the participant’s presence and push relevant content to their mobile phone, mimicking the retail experience where stores can more effectively target browsing customers. The Connected Workplace application on the X2O platform allowed users to communicate in real time with X2O channels displayed throughout the enterprise on digital signage, video walls, mobile devices, and more. When combined with iBeacons, user presence was instantly detected, allowing enterprises to interact easily with employees, partners and on-premises guests. Designed for multiple users, the Connected Workspace application enabled groups to collaborate in a shared virtual workspace either online or in huddle spaces authorising document and desktop sharing, video conversations, polling participation, and more.

Connected Desktop using the Connected Desktop application on the X2O platform, permitted users to view and interact with X2O channels directly from their desktop, improving visual communication within today’s digital enterprise. Connected Workforce, this application enabled organisations to harness the power of the X2O platform to share real-time content with remote workers across campuses and around the globe. That means a company can maintain up-to-date communication throughout its workforce regardless of location.
