CHAUVET’s new Rogue Series is a rugged line of moving head fixtures that pack a powerful punch and offer a host of high-performance features like multi prism rotation, zoomable prism, variable speed scrolling, LED gobo morphing and a massive light output for their price range.
“One of the things that makes Rogue unique is that if offers such an outstanding performance and so many features for its price,’ said Mike Graham, product manager at CHAUVET Professional. “Rogue will allow even designers on a limited budget to create some very intense, high-impact designs with crisp beams, bright colours, aerial effects, split colours and other effects that may have been out of reach to them in the past because the budget wasn’t there.’
CHAUVET Professional unveiled four new fixtures as part of the Rogue introduction:
• Rogue R1 Spot, a 140W LED that produces a very even flat field ideal for gobo projection; and features an 8-color wheel, as well as two gobo wheels.
• Rogue R1 Beam, a powerful beam effect that uses an Osram Sirius 132W HRI lamp to produce 78,700 lux at 15 meters, and offers the ability to layer both prisms simultaneously for eye-popping effects.
• Rogue R2 Spot, an intense 240W LED automated spot featuring two continuously and variably scrolling colour wheels that place a world of colour splitting options at every user’s finger tips.
• Rogue R2 Beam, a brawny beam that produces 133,200 lux at 15 meters using an Osram Sirius 230W HRI lamp, and features an 8-facet rotating prism can be used to create an endless array of dynamic looks.
Rogue was joined by an impressive array of other exciting products at the CHAUVET Professional stand. Among these newcomers were the 2013 Parnelli Award winner for Indispensable Technology Nexus 4×4, next to more pixel-mapping LED panels like Nexus Aq 5X5 and Nexus Aw 7X7. Members of the Nexus Affinity Series, Nexus Aq 5X5 and Nexus Aw 7X7 offer the ultimate flexibility to build anything from stage totems to large array displays – and they can be used in a multitude of ways: to create high-impact aerial effects, as a stage wash, as an audience blinder, or to create vibrant text and animated graphics. Projecting narrow beams and featuring a smooth dimming curve, the Nexus Aq 5X5 RGBW panel utilizes 25 x 10-watt quad colour LEDs, while the warm white Nexus Aw 7X7 contains 49 x 3-watt 2,800K white LEDs. Both models are controllable via DMX, Art-Net or Kling-Net.
Another pixel-mapping solution at the CHAUVET Professional stand was the EPIX Series. Consisting of two one-meter linear tri-colour LED fixtures that work together seamlessly — the ÉPIX Bar 2.0 and ÉPIX Strip 2.0 — and the ÉPIX Drive 642, which hosts the fixtures’ processing and power supply, the new series makes it easier for the “non-technical’ user to create professional video and pixel-mapping displays.
Legend 330SR Spot also attracted a great deal of attention at the CHAUVET Professional stand. Utilizing an ultra-powerful 330-watt 8,000K Osram Sirius lamp, this moving head spot emits an amazing output for its compact size — up to 62,200 lux at 5 meters — while its precision optics and even field of light yield stunningly crisp gobo projection. Along with greater brightness, the Legend 330SR Spot offers designers a greater array of creative options, including a custom designed CMY colour mixing system, 5-24-degree zoom, 22 gobos (8 rotating, 14 static), 8-facet rotating prism, motorized focus, and variable frost filter. Legend 330SR Spot can be operated on 21 or 27 DMX channels, and it includes 3- and 5-pin XLR connectors and Neutrik® powerCON® connectors for fast, easy setup.
