The LUMINEX Roadshow, hosted by Electrosonic SA, recently kicked off in
Johannesburg on Tuesday 22 September. The three hour session then moved to
Durban on 23 September and ended in Cape Town on 25 September.
Presented at Electrosonic’s head office in Northcliff, Johannesburg, by LUMINEX
Product Manager, Fabrice Gosnet, the aim of the roadshow was to discuss the
benefits of networks in AV Systems.
The aim of the tour was to discuss three main aspects, namely networking in the
Entertainment industry, the history and product develop of Luminex and the
advantage of moving from a copper solution to an Optical Fibre one.
Gosnet took the attendees through the basics of AV networking, from mergers and
slitters, wireless routers and Ethernet, to cables, connectors and the importance of
redundancy.
Simplifying the seemingly complicated aspects of networking and explaining
complicated concepts in layman’s terms, Gosnet tackled the idea of networking
head-on.
“The point that we aim to make with this roadshow, is that networks are not scary.
They are easy to use, powerful and important,’ Gosnet said. “The LUMINEX
Gigacore is a brilliant product that makes networking easy, unifying sound
technology with light technology, allowing them to work together.’
In July 2015, Electrosonic SA was appointed as sole distributor for LUMINEX in
South Africa. LUMINEX Lighting Control Equipment (LCE) is a Belgium-based
company that was established in February 2002. It specializes in developing lighting
control equipment for the entertainment industry.
