Local youth-based organisation, JYM Sound and Lighting, recently purchased six Chauvet Rogue-series R1 beams through local Chauvet distributors Audiosure.

JYM Sound and Lighting caters for small to medium events and functions and were looking to upgrade their lighting inventory. Being a smaller company, JYM initially looked into cheaper alternatives. However, thanks to a fair amount of online research, JYM lighting tech Shaniel Laloo was introduced to the newly launched Chauvet Rogue series which turned out to be an attractive option.

“I was browsing the net when I came across this new series Chauvet had launched and got on to the phone immediately and called Audiosure to find out more about them,’ says Laloo. “After making a few enquires, I spoke to my boss and he was thrilled to hear about the price and placed an order for six of the R1 beams.’

After a relatively short turnaround time on the order, the fixtures were finally delivered on site at a gig in Witbank that was being handled by JYM.

“My reaction when I opened the box was just wow,’ exclaims Laloo. “Chauvet has seriously stepped up their game with their professional range. The finish of the light is really neat and tough. Even though the R1 beam only has a 132W bulb and draws only 1.1A, the output is astonishing! It is perfect for indoor and outdoor functions and it doesn’t kill other lights on the rig.’
