HARMAN Professional Solutions, the world’s largest audio, video, lighting and
control manufacturer, today announced that Martin lighting products were featured
at the first 2016 U.S. Presidential Debate. The debate between Democratic
candidate Hillary Clinton and Republican candidate Donald Trump took take place in
the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex at Hofstra University and featured
Martin MAC Viper lighting solutions.
Lighting designer and production manager Kevin O’Brien selected Martin MAC Viper
Performance and MAC Viper Wash DX fixtures to light the exterior façade of the
building. Christie Lites provided the Martin fixtures for the event, with the remaining
lighting equipment provided by Bestek Lighting & Staging. Brendon Boyd of Boyd
Designs provided the programming.
Explaining his choice, O’Brien cites the reliability of the Martin line, adding, “The
clean, flat beam you get out of the MAC Vipers is fantastic, and the shuttering
capabilities of the Viper Performance is unmatched in the industry.’ O’Brien selected
Martin MAC Viper Performance fixtures to highlight banners and other architectural
features, using the shuttering capabilities of the Viper Performance to tailor the
light beam to the specific dimensions of the architectural features. For the overall
building wash, O’Brien chose Martin MAC Viper Wash DX fixtures.
The first U.S. 2016 Presidential Debate was the most-watched presidential debate in
modern history, with an estimated total of 80.9 million viewers across the 12
television channels that carried it live as well as many more that streamed the
